Missing man’s body retrieved from NSW lake

A MAN who went missing while kayaking in a lake on the NSW Central Coast has been found dead.

The 44-year-old man was last seen in a red kayak on Lake Tuggerah at Chittaway around 1.30pm yesterday.

When he failed to return home by 9.30pm, his family became concerned and reported him missing to police.

An ambulance helicopter joined police in searching Tuggerah Lake, but the operation was suspended overnight.

It resumed at first light this morning, with assistance from Marine Rescue NSW and the police helicopter.

Sadly, police confirmed searchers located a red kayak and retrieved a man’s body from the lake around 9.30am.

While formal identification is yet to take place, police say they believe the body is that of the missing kayaker.

The cause of the man’s death is yet unknown and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
