Man charged over sickening ‘one punch’ attack at Sydney bus stop

UPDATE @ March 22, 8.15am: A man has been charged over a shocking ‘one punch’ attack at a bus stop in Sydney on Monday.

The horror incident unfolded around 3.20pm, when a 31-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by two men while waiting at a bus stop at Dee Why.

Police say the 31-year-old was allegedly punched in the face by one man and then punched in the head by another, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete, fracturing his skull.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Following investigations into the assault, on Monday police attended a home at Dee Why, where they arrested a 19-year-old man.

He was taken to Manly Police Station where he assisted police with their inquiries and was released without charge.

About 8pm yesterday, investigators attended a unit at Redfern and executed a search warrant.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Redfern Police Station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today.

EARLIER @ March 21, 9.00am: A man is in a critical condition following a shocking ‘one punch’ attack at a bus stop in Sydney.

The horror incident unfolded around 3.20pm yesterday, when a 31-year-old man was waiting at a bus stop at Dee Why.

Police say a bus pulled up at the location and another man exited the vehicle.

The man became involved in a brief conversation with the 31-year-old before punching him in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete, fracturing his skull.

The victim was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Around 6.00pm, police attended a home at Dee Why where they arrested a 19-year-old man who was later released without charge.

Investigations are ongoing.
