Our very own Gold Coast girl Margot Robbie will star as Barbie in a new live-action movie about the iconic doll.
It will be the first time the popular toy has ever been brought to life on the big screen, with the project an exciting partnership between Warner Bros and Mattel.
In a statement, Robbie said she is “honoured” to have been chosen to play the role of Barbie, who has been a much-loved doll for generations.

“Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president,” she said.
In more exciting news, it’s also been revealed that Robbie will co-host the film alongside her husband Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara from LuckyChap Entertainment.
“I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide,” Robbie said.
A storyline or release date for the film has not yet been revealed but we are already SO excited!
