MasterChef star Ben Ungermann removed from show after being arrested

MasterChef star Ben Ungermann has been removed from the upcoming season of MasterChef Australia after being arrested.

The 34-year-old, who was the runner-up on the 2017 Season 9 competition, was meant to be making a return to our TV screens on the popular cooking show’s Back To Win series this year.

However, a spokesperson for the show’s production company, Endemol Shine, confirmed to The Herald Sun that Ungermann has now left the show.

“We can confirm Ben Ungermann has left the MasterChef Australia competition,” the spokesperson said.

“As this is a police matter, we will not be making further comment”.

The arrest is being described as an issue of “a personal nature”.

Ungermann took to his Instagram account just days ago, sharing a photo of himself which featured a cryptic quote.

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have,” he wrote.

MasterChef: Back To Win is set to air this April.
