Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has today confirmed changes will be made to the city’s parking regulations from next month.
It comes after the Mayor called an urgent meeting of all Councillors to put the Gold Coast parking issues on the table last month.
“Each area of the city has different challenges. Some areas want, and need, the parking bays to be freed up regularly so business can benefit,” Mayor Tate said.

“Other areas, with higher residential amenity, want to have longer-stay parking bays.”
The Mayor said the city “needs to get the balance right” and that he’s determined to ensure residents’ voices are heard.
“I’m confident of being able to make a suite of announcements next month, to satisfy both business and residents,” he said.
A report is due back to Council next month.
