GOLD Coast detectives have arrested two men caught with a stash of counterfeit $50 notes in Surfers Paradise.
The men, from Sydney, were found in a holiday unit on Sunday afternoon after police were alerted by suspicious traders.
Police allege the pair were in possession of more than twenty fake $50 notes.

They have both been charged with possessing counterfeit currency as well as fraud offences and will be appearing in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 18.
Although a reasonable likeness, the paper used to print the notes was described as poor in quality with the watermark being more prominent than usual.
Retailers and traders are reminded to check the quality of bank notes offered for payment and if they have any suspicions, retain the suspicious note and call police.
