Men charged with ‘sexually penetrating child under 12’

TWO men have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of ‘sexually penetrating a child’ after allegedly molesting and repeatedly raping two young girls in Melbourne’s southwest.

In a statement on Sunday morning, Victoria Police said the men, aged 21 and 23, allegedly committed “serious sexual offences” against two girls aged under 16 and 12 in Werribee on December 3.

Following a protracted investigation, Investigators from the Westgate Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man from Noble Park.

The man was remanded in custody and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.

His arrest comes five days after a 23-year-old man from Werribee was arrested over his alleged involvement in the incident.

He was charged on Tuesday with three counts of sexual assaulting a child under 16, four counts of sexually penetrating a child under 12 and one of sexually penetrating a child under 16.

It is not known if the men knew the girls, or where exactly the assaults allegedly occurred.

Victoria Police said the investigation is ongoing.
