AUSTRALIAN skipper Michael Clarke says his bizarre field settings in the second Test against Pakistan were forced on him by the lifeless Abu Dhabi pitch.
Australia used eight bowlers on a flat batting track on day one as Pakistan reached an imposing tally of 2-304 on Thursday.
Clarke says he tried everything he possibly could in a bid to make something happen.

Pakistan’s Younis Khan struck his third consecutive century, fading all of Australia’s hoped of levelling the two-Test series with victory.
Younis is unbeaten on 111, having added 208 for the third wicket with Azhar Ali (101 not out).
