Morrison widens lead as preferred PM in latest newspoll

Australia’s newest Prime Minister Scott Morrison has widened his lead over Bill Shorten as preferred PM.

The latest Newspoll, published by The Australian on Monday, shows the Liberal leader jumped three approval rating points to 45 per cent.

In comparison, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten fell four points to 32 per cent.


According to the poll, the Coalition Government’s primary vote also rose by two points to 36 per cent, while Labor’s primary vote fell three points to 39 per cent.

Labor is still leading the coalition government 54-46 in two-party preferred terms.
