Motorbike hits child after running red light in shocking hit and run

A 5-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a motorcyclist who ran a red light in a shocking hit and run in Logan.

The incident happened whilst the child was waiting at a pedestrian crossing with a 31-year-old woman in Kingston on Monday afternoon.

Police say the motorbike travelled through the red light, collided with the young boy, and then continued to drive away.

The child was treated at the scene for a minor head injury as well as fractures to his leg and ankle, before he was taken to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are now urging anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time of the incident or further information about the motorbike to come forward.

The motorbike is described as possibly red in colour.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
