Motorist hospitalised after car crashes into tree on Gold Coast

One person has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a tree on the Gold Coast overnight.

The accident happened on Highfield Drive at Merrimac around 9.30pm.

The driver of the vehicle was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

The patient was then taken to Robina Hospital in a stable condition.

It was a busy night for paramedics and emergency crews on the coast, who also responded to a serious tour bus crash in the hinterland around 8.00pm.

Six people were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with various minor injuries, whilst the driver of the vehicle was flown to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
