New flights connect Gold Coast to every southern capital city

Tigerair Australia have announced they’ll begin flying between the Gold Coast and Hobart four times a week from Thursday 7 December, opening the door for Gold Coasters to fly directly to every southern capital city in Australia.

The service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and recognises the Gold Coast as a growing tourist hot spot. It comes as the latest domestic tourism numbers show 45,000 Tasmanians visited the city in the past year – up seven per cent on the year before.

“Tasmania is an increasingly popular destination for tourists and the Gold Coast is a well-established holiday location, so we expect this service will be embraced,” said Gold Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills.

“We look forward to welcoming Tasmanians here for some surf, sand and sun this summer.”

Tigerair already services around 16,000 visitors to the Gold Coast each week, and this new service is expected to bring an additional 1440.
