A newborn baby has been found dead on a beach in Victoria’s south east, sparking a major investigation.
A passer-by made the grim discovery on the beach in Seaford, opposite the Nepean Highway, about 4.30pm on Wednesday.
Police say they hold serious concerns for the health and welfare of the baby’s mother and are desperately appealing for her to come forward.

The exact circumstances surrounding the death and the identity of the infant are yet to be determined.
