Off-duty officers injured in servo arrest

A MAN will appear in court next month, charged with assaulting an off-duty police officer in Sydney’s south-west.

The 20-year-old allegedly became involved in an altercation with not one but two off-duty officers at a service station in Spring Farm about 3.45pm on Thursday.

It’s understood the two officers were trying to arrest the man when it’s alleged one of them was punched in the face.

A third off-duty officer who was driving past saw the commotion and stopped to help his colleagues detain the man.

The officer who was punched in the face was taken to Liverpool Hospital with facial swelling and bruising, while the other officers received minor injuries.

The 20-year-old man received a cut above his eye and was taken to Campbelltown Hospital under police guard.

He was later released and taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with common assault, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and resist officer in execution of duty.

The man has since been released on bail ahead of his court appearance on September 25.
