One dead after caravan catches fire

ONE person has perished in a caravan fire on Queensland’s Western Downs, 300km west of Brisbane.

Flames engulfed the van on Orchard road in the tiny town of Tara about 10am on Thursday.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and found the caravan fully engulfed in flames.


Crews eventually extinguished the blaze but sadly, it was too late.

After the flames were put out, crews located the body of a person inside the caravan.

The gender and age of the deceased are not known.

A formal identification process will be carried out to confirm their identity.

A crime scene has been established, as officers work to determine the cause of the blaze.
