Power restored to Gold Coast homes, businesses after outage

UPDATE @ 2.15 PM: POWER has been restored to more than 250 buildings on the Gold Coast following an outage this afternoon.

The blackout struck the suburb of Bundall around midday on Monday, with 260 homes and businesses losing power. A number of traffic lights in the area were also affected.

It took crews just under two hours to restore power to the suburb.

An Energex spokesperson told myGC that the cause of the outage is still unclear.

EARLIER @ 12.30PM: MORE than 250 buildings are without power on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

The blackout is affecting 260 homes and businesses on several streets in Bundall, including Ashmore Road, Bundall Road, Crombie Avenue, Frigo Court, Holden Place, Karp Court, Racecourse Drive, Slatyer Avenue and Upton Street.

A number of traffic lights in the area have also been affected by the outage, with motorists being urged to drive with caution.

An Energex spokesperson told myGC emergency repairs are currently in progress.

It’s not yet known what has caused the blackout.
