Hackers are believed to have stolen the images from a website called snapsaved.com which allows users to view and save Snapchat messages on a desktop browser.
Snapsaved confirmed the breach in a statement, “As soon as we discovered the breach in our systems, we immediately deleted the entire website and the database associated with it.”
The leak of thousands of Snapchat images follows the widespread hacking of naked celebrity photos last month.
