P-Plater caught driving 142km/h while watching YouTube

A p-plater has been busted driving more than 45km/h over the speed limit while allegedly watching YouTube on his mobile phone.

The 18-year-old man was pulled over on Camden Valley Way in Catherine Field about 10.40pm last night, after Highway Patrol officers detected his Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly travelling 142km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Whilst chatting to the teen, police officers also noticed a mobile phone playing YouTube videos in the centre console of the car.

The young man’s licence was confiscated and suspended on the spot for six months.

He also received an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h ($2435 and six demerit points) and using a mobile phone when not permitted ($337 and five demerit points).

The registration plates on his vehicle were removed and have been handed back to the RMS for three months.
