A PALM Beach man is lucky to be alive after a truck collided with his stalled sedan on the Pacific Motorway yesterday, crushing it in half.
Around 3:15 pm on Tuesday, the 23-year-old man’s car broke down near the Laura St overbridge, Ballina.
The blue sedan was then hit by a truck at full speed from behind, shooting the car across multiple lanes of traffic and into the road barriers.

Emergency services were forced to cut the man free from the sedan, which was completely destroyed in the horror crash.
He was transported to hospital with a suspected fractured collarbone.
Tweed police Inspector Greg Jag told the Ballina Shire Advocate investigations are ongoing.
“At this point investigations indicate the sedan had a mechanical failure,” he said.
“A number of other vehicles were able to avoid the broken down vehicle, but the heavy vehicle was unable to.”
A 25-year-old Ashmore man is believed to have been the driver of the truck. He was unharmed in the crash.
Following the incident, southbound traffic was banked up 5km.
