Teen girl killed after car hits power pole head-on

A TEENAGE girl has been killed after the car she was in slammed head-on into a power pole in Sydney’s west.

The Mazda 6 ploughed into the wooden pole on the corner of Eggleton and Garden streets at Blacktown about 5.30am on Sunday.

The 18-year-old man behind the wheel and two teenage girls, aged 15 and 17, were all taken to Westmead Hospital with various serious injuries.


Sadly, a third teenage girl, also believed to be aged 17, could not be saved and died at the scene.

In a statement this afternoon, police said drug paraphernalia, cash, and a number of white pills were found in the car.

The 18-year-old driver is under police guard in hospital and will also be subjected to mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

The Crash Investigation Unit is probing the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
