Patient dies after SA ambulance and car collide

A man who was being transported to hospital has died after the ambulance he was travelling in collided with a car and rolled in Adelaide.

The accident happened on Port Road, a short distance from the Royal Adelaide Hospital, about 10:45pm on Tuesday.

South Australia Police said the man was being taken to hospital for a “pre-existing medical condition” when the accident occurred.


The driver of the car and paramedics managed to escape with only minor injuries, while the 69-year-old man passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

Major Crash Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
