THUNDERSTORMS hit the the Gold Coast last night, with thousands of lightening strikes lighting up the sky.
The storms proved to be spectacular viewing for locals, with many capturing photos of the incredible strikes.

Hinterland areas recorded the most rainfall – with 25mm at Mt Tamborine, 16mm at Clagiraba, Beechmont and Hinze Dam, and 12mm at Canungra – while suburbs closer to the coast received very little.
Thousands of homes lost power across the southeast, but there were no major disruptions to the Gold Coast.
