CANCER Council Queensland have officially launched Pink Ribbon Day on the Gold Coast with the help of the team at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.

To mark the occasion and kick start the month-long fundraiser, Jupiters’ Pastry Chefs unveiled impressive cake pop display, inspired by the iconic pink ribbon.

Cancer Council Queensland is calling on all Gold Coast locals to unite in pink this October and help the one in six Queensland women who will be diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime.

Around 3900 Queensland women will be diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer this year, and around 800 will die from the women’s cancers.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said getting the girls together to help beat all women’s cancers was an easy and fun way to make a difference.

“It’s time for us to unite in the fight, don a bit of pink, and get serious about raising awareness of women’s cancers,” Ms Clift said.

“All funds raised support our vital work each year in women’s cancer research, education and support programs.

“This month is also a great opportunity to reach out to your loved ones – ask about their health, encourage them to get screened, lend a helping hand and be a listening ear.

“Your support makes a huge difference in the fight against cancer.”

Jupiters Hotel & Casino Managing Director Geoff Hogg said the property is a proud major partner of Cancer Council Queensland and will again be supporting the organisation in its annual campaign.

“We are committed to helping Cancer Council Queensland in its fight against women’s cancers, so this October we will be ‘thinking pink’ through a number of awareness and fundraising activities across the property,” Mr Hogg said.

“The Jupiters team appreciate and celebrate that being part of the Gold Coast means giving back, and are very passionate and eager to participate in initiatives like Pink Ribbon Day to show our support for the community.”

This year Cancer Council aims to raise $9.47 million through Pink Ribbon Day and Pink Ribbon Fundraising Events.

Unite in pink this October – buy pink, register to host a Girls’ Night In or Pink Ribbon Fundraiser, donate or volunteer on Pink Ribbon Day – Monday October 27.
