Police revoke ’emergency situation’ in Ipswich

UPDATE @ 11.15 AM | AN emergency situation at Barellan Point in Ipswich is over.

Police confirmed the declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act was revoked at 10.40am after a man was “taken into custody without incident”.

Authorities thanked locals for their patience as they worked to resolve the situation safely.

EARLIER @ 10.15 AM | A major police incident is unfolding in Ipswich with an armed man allegedly holed up inside a home.

Police were called to a house on Endeavour Street at at Barellan Point about 8.40am, following reports a man was armed and making threats.

Officers declared an emergency situation about 9.30am.

“Police have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act and have currently blocked off Endeavour Street near Oxley Drive” police said in a statement.

People are being urged to avoid the area.

There is no further information available at this time.
