Police hunt thief behind smash and grab at Southport chemist

POLICE are searching for a man who used a brick to smash his way into a Southport chemist and steal a stash of prescription medication overnight.

The man allegedly hurled a brick through the front glass doors of the Marine Parade chemist just before 1am.

The man allegedly crawled through the smashed door, jumped the counter and filled a backpack with medication before crawling back through the door and running away.

He was last seen running towards Norman Street before getting on a bicycle and riding away along the same street.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged between 20 to 30 years and approximately 175cm tall.

He was wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt, a black hat, black balaclava, black long pants, black Nike shoes, green garden gloves and was carrying a black backpack.
