Police hunting heartless thief accused of robbing 78yo woman

An elderly woman has been hospitalised after she was injured during a violent bag-snatch at Waterford West in Logan.

Police say the 78-year-old woman was waiting in her driveway on Bourke Street around 8.45am on Sunday, when a man came out of a vehicle parked nearby and grabbed her handbag.

The woman was pushed to the ground during the scuffle and suffered a number of injuries.

She was taken to hospital, however thankfully they’re not believed to be life-threatening.

It’s believed the man fled the scene in a silver Toyota hatchback containing several people.

Detectives say they have spoken with several witnesses, however are appealing for anyone with any information to contact police.

The property inside the handbag included the woman’s mobile phone, house-keys, prescription glasses and a small sum of money.
