Police investigating woman’s alleged abduction and rape appeal for witnesses

DETECTIVES investigating the alleged abduction and rape of a Melbourne woman have released images of two men they believe she may have spoken to before the attack.

Police say they do not believe the men had any involvement in the incident which happened in Carlton on Sunday 17 June, but may have information which could assist with the investigation.

The first man is described as being perceived to be of Indian appearance and aged between 20-30 years of age with a medium build.

At the time he was wearing a maroon hooded top, black pants and dark shoes, and was carrying a white plastic bag.

The second man is described as being perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and aged between 20-30 years of age.

At the time he was wearing a black top, possibly a black jacket and top, with tan coloured pants and dark shoes.

A third man who was seen in CCTV walking past a shop front on Grattan Street around the time of the incident is also being urged to come forward.

Police say he is also just a witness and had no involvement in the incident.

Sexual Crimes Squad detectives have already charged a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Doreen, over the attack.

The pair were charged with abduction, two counts of rape, unlawful imprisonment and theft.

They have both been remanded in custody.
