Police on the hunt for two NSW prison escapees

Police are desperately searching for two prisoners who escaped from a minimum security prison at Gongolgon, 70km south of Brewarrina, last night.

Lucas Hines, 20, and Paul Jackson, 18, were noticed missing by Corrections Officers during a routine check about 11.30pm.

Their disappearance was reported to police who immediately began patrolling for them.

The men were seen jumping a fence about 20km north of the correctional centre about 3.45am; however they have not yet been located by police.

Hines is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 160-175cm tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and black hair.

Jackson is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 180-185cm tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and brown hair.

Both were wearing grey shirts at the time of their escape.

Police are warning the public not to approach the men if they see them, but to instead contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
