Parents are being warned of a nationwide recall affecting a pack of children’s novelty rings which have been on the market for five years.
Kmart issued the recall of the 4 Pack Flashing Rings on Wednesday, saying they pose a serious choking risk to young kids.
“The button batteries may not be adequately secured and the button batteries in the product may be easily accessible if the internal flashing module is removed from the ring,” the recall notice reads.

“If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death.”
The rings have been available at Kmart stores around the country between 27 August 2014 and 1 October 2019.
Customers are being urged to stop using the product immediately and are encouraged to return it to any Kmart store for a full refund.
