Powerful tremor hits Indonesia days after quake kills 350

UPDATE @ August 10: AT LEAST six people have been killed after another powerful earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Lombok, next to Bali.

The strong aftershock had a magnitude of 6.2 and was shallow, striking at a depth of just 12 kilometres on Thursday, Indonesia’s Geological Agency says.

The US Geological Survey has the tremor at a magnitude 5.9.

According to local media, dozens of people were injured in the latest quake, which hit just four days after a massive 6.9 magnitude quake shook the region, killing up to 350 people.

Rescue efforts are still underway in the region with the death toll sadly expected to rise.

EARLIER @ August 9: YET ANOTHER powerful earthquake has struck the Indonesian island of Lombok, next to Bali.

According to Indonesia’s geological agency, Thursday’s quake had a magnitude of 6.2 and was shallow, striking at a depth of just 12 kilometres. The US Geological Survey has the tremor at a magnitude 5.9.

It comes just four days after a massive 6.9 magnitude quake shook the region on Sunday, killing 350 people.

According to witnesses on the ground, the latest tremor caused further buildings to collapse.
