A major police operation targeting the supply of dangerous drugs on the Gold Coast in the lead up to Schoolies has nabbed 36 people on a range of drugs and weapons offences.
The operation went for one week, with Gold Coast detectives raiding 33 properties across the northern district, including Southport, Surfers Paradise, Runaway Bay, Coomera, Nerang, Pacific Pines, Pimpama, Upper Coomera, Ashmore, Highland Park, Labrador, Biggera Waters and Arundel.
During the searches, police allegedly uncovered a significant amount of the drug Ice, Fantasy, MDMA and cannabis.

Stolen property including a motorcycle, trailers and a firearm silencer were also allegedly found.
To date, 36 people have been charged with a range of offences including the production, supply and possession of dangerous drugs and weapons offences.
Police say more arrests and charges are expected today.
“The success of this activity and on-going enforcement is likely to impact the availability of dangerous drugs in the lead up to schoolies week commencing this weekend,” Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of the Gold Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch said.
“Not only does this week’s action see dangerous drugs and weapons removed from the street and make the community safer, it sends a message to those involved in illegal drug activity that we will be unrelenting in our efforts against you. You need to change your behaviour or expect law enforcement to come through your door”.
