Premier donates $400k from Queensland to charities

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk last night donated a total of $400,000, on behalf of all Queenslanders, to four charities – and she encouraged locals to also make a personal donation.

St Vincent de Paul Society, UnitingCare Queensland, The Smith Family and The Salvation Army each received a cheque of $100,000 from the Premier to support their community work.

Ms Palaszczuk said: “Throughout Queensland, whether it is Brisbane, Gold Coast, Longreach, Cairns, Townsville or Toowoomba, our charities provide a helping hand to residents [in need].

“It doesn’t matter how big or small the donation is, whether it is clothes, unwanted items or a few dollars, the impact of everyone’s small acts of generosity can be life changing for those people in need,” said the Premier.

Online donations can be made by visiting the websites of The Salvation Army, UnitingCare Queensland, The Smith Family and St Vincent de Paul Society.
