Public transport a little cheaper from today

THE COMMUTE to work on public transport will get a little cheaper from Monday.

The Queensland Government announced earlier this year they will be cutting prices by 5 percent due to the axing of the Carbon Tax.

Transport Minister Scott Emerson says it’s the first time fares have fallen.

“Someone who’s a monday to friday commuter from the Gold Coast will save almost $300 a year while someone travelling in a two-zone trip in Brisbane will save around $83 a year,” Mr Emerson said.

The Carbon tax refund will see fares frozen next year and remain below inflation the year after.
