EDUCATION Minister Christopher Pyne says he is confident a deal will be struck on university reform within the next few weeks.
It comes amid reports the Abbott Government is planning to ditch parts of its previous plan, including altering the interest rate on existing student debt.
However, it’s understood the deregulation of university fees is still on the agenda.

Speaking to Sky News Mr Pyne said negotiations are ongoing, but the Government is close to a deal.
“I believe that in the next few weeks there will be a final result on university reform,” he said.
“It will be good for students, it will be good for universities.”
The reforms were first put forward in the Federal Budget earlier this year.
