Fireworks factory explodes in rural NSW

A PYROTECHNICS facility has exploded in New South Wales, setting fire to several buildings and surrounding bush.

It’s understood the explosion happened at a set of old Army Barracks on Condobolin Rd at Bogan Gate around 5.30pm EDT.

The facility is known to house high-grade fireworks, similar to those used on the Sydney Harbour Bridge for New Year’s Eve.

The NSW Rural Fire Service has advised “numerous buildings are well alight” and a large fire is now threatening many more.

The dangerous conditions are preventing emergency services from reaching the scene.

An unknown number of buildings are currently being evacuated.

This is a developing story – there’s no further information available at this time.
