Qld man sprayed with accelerant before being set on fire

A man’s been charged after allegedly setting another man on fire in north Queensland.

The terrifying incident is understood to have happened at a home on Campbell Street in Rockhampton on Saturday, January 4.

Police say a 21-year-old man turned up to the home and allegedly became involved in an argument with a 41-year-old man.


During the dispute, the 21-year-old man allegedly sprayed the other man with an accelerant and set fire to him.

The 41-year-old man suffered burns to a large part of his body, including his head and neck.

He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Following investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He’s due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
