Qld teen charged following investigation into 100 suspicious fires

A 19-year-old man has been charged following investigations into 100 suspicious fires in the Capricornia region this year.

Police allege that beginning in May, a number of fires were deliberately lit in the areas of Alton Downs, Gracemere and Mount Morgan.

Following investigations, officers  executed a search warrant on a property in Mount Morgan on Wednesday.


A 19-year-old Mount Morgan man was charged with seven counts of setting fire to crops or growing plants.

He is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 27.

Investigations are continuing.
