RACQ is warning Gold Coasters of the dangers of rail level crossings as part of Rail Safety Awareness Week.
The motoring body has launched an online campaign in the hopes of making the train and tram stations a little safer.
RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie says there is no excuse for ignoring flashing lights or driving around a boom gate.

“You’re not just breaking the road rules, you’re placing yourself and your passengers in a dangerous situation and risking the lives of those on board the train,” Ms Ritchie said.
Last year, there were over 285 near-miss incidents in Queensland – a number Ms Ritchie says is unacceptable.
