Recycling just got a whole lot easier for Gold Coasters!
An Australian-first recycling initiative called Recycle Street is now in operation at the Helensvale Recycling Centre.
The colour-coded self service facility clearly identifies what items can and can’t be recycled, with the aim to reduce the amount of waste Gold Coasters send to landfill.

According to the City of Gold Coast, currently 60 percent of what is taken to landfill can be recycled, particularly scrap metal, cardboard and green waste.
The Recycle Street initiative is in operation overseas and has proven successful, which is why the City of Gold Coast wanted to implement it here on the Gold Coast.
Mayor Tom Tate described Recycle Street as an easy and convenient way to help residents improve their recycling behaviours.
Currently Recycle Street is only available at the Helensvale Recycling Centre, however the initiative will soon be rolled out at all of the City’s Waste and Recycling Centres.
