Rescuers trying to reach seven people stranded on rock platform

EMERGENCY services are trying to reach seven people, stranded on a rock platform in the ocean south of the Gold Coast.

The group became trapped by the rising tide after climbing onto The Causeway at Fingal Head about 10.30am AEST.

Police, paramedics and lifesavers are on the scene assessing the situation and have made direct contact with the group.

It’s understood rescue crews will need to wait for the tide to fall before they can extract the group from the rock mound.

The ages and genders of those trapped was not immediately known.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. No further information was available at the time of writing.
