Ropes course refreshed at Tallebudgera Recreation Centre

THRILL seekers and families looking for a fun day out can get their fix on the refurbished high ropes challenge course at the Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre on the Gold Coast.

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP said the $32,000 project involved the installation of new customised equipment, including 140 metres of stainless steel wire rope, wire rope grips and hang-points as well as two new climbing elements.

“The Queensland Government is also investing a further $200,000 this financial year into additional upgrades at this iconic Gold Coast recreation centre,” Mr Hart said.

“We will be installing new lights for the tennis courts, replacing the off-beach shower and upgrading the kiosk’s entry and outdoor seating area.

“Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre is an important precinct for promoting lifelong participation in active recreation to all age groups.”

Recreation and Sport Minister Steve Dickson said the Tallebudgera centre had an impressive range of facilities and activities which made it a drawcard for the many groups.

“The Newman Government wants all Queenslanders to have active, healthy lifestyles, and providing opportunities such as those at the Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre is just one of the ways we’re reaching that goal,” Mr Dickson said.

Mr Dickson said increased active participation and success began with a strong focus on grassroots sport and recreation.

“That’s why the government is providing $48 million for its Get in the Game initiative,” he said.

“The programs that comprise this initiative not only provide clubs with better equipment and facilities, but also give children who might not otherwise be able to afford it the opportunity to play sport.”
