FIREFIGHTERS have rushed to Southport after the contents of a garbage truck caught alight.
It’s understood flames broke out in the back of the truck around 9.50am along Brighton Parade, forcing the driver to dump the load off in the car park near James Overell Park.
Firies have since got the blaze under control but remain on scene dampening down the scene.

Crews are waiting on City of Gold Coast to bring a bobcat to help clear segments of the rubbish pile.
Motorists are being warned of some minor delays in the area. Traffic management is already on scene.
