NICK Kyrgios has topped of a stunning season by winning the Newcombe Medal as he was named the most outstanding Australian tennis player of the year.
To do so, Kyrgios had to edge out veteran Lleyton Hewitt, Casey Dellacqua and Gold Coaster Samantha Stosur at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium on Monday night.
It makes him the youngest player to receive the award at just 19-years-old.

Kyrgios earned the title through his fourth-round Wimbledon win over Rafael Nadal, his hard work in the All England Club and by reaching the final 32 at the US Open.
He finished the season ranked No. 52 after starting at 183rd.
