Sanctuary Cove launches new live music event

SANCTUARY Cove has launched a brand new live music event, Sunday Sounds, as a way to support local musicians and give hungry audiences access to the fantastic array of talent the Coast has to offer.

Sunday Sounds, happening every Sunday in October, will offer free outdoor entertainment for all ages every Sunday with a stellar line up of outstanding live music, alongside entertainment for the kids, fabulous food and much more.

Johan Hasser, Head of Events at Mulpha Sanctuary Cove, said that he is looking forward to welcoming a variety of local acts to Sanctuary Cove during October and bringing a new live music scene to the Gold Coast.

“Entertainment is such an important part of our cultural landscape. Sanctuary Cove has always had an element of live music in the streets and these events take it to a new level.

“The expansive Marine Village at Sanctuary Cove allows us to feature several acts simultaneously, and means we can offer something to suit every taste, every Sunday.

During October, each Sunday will see a different musical genre take centre stage, with a selection of the best acts from the Coast and beyond.

Sunday, October 5 is Country. From 11am, see talented Queenslanders Angie Simone, Wes Taylor and Shane Taylor.
At 3pm, The Smokin’ Crawdads take centre stage with a playlist that ranges from gutbucket blues through to Memphis-soaked swamp rock. And from 11am- 3pm, kids can have their faces painted, with a jumping castle from 11am-5pm.

Sunday, October 12, will see a selection of Blues & Jazz such as master guitarist Howie G, celebrated local jazzman Bobby Blue, jazz and blues maestro Frazer Goodman, and 11-piece Byron Bay band The WellSwung Daddies. From 11am- 3pm, kids can have their faces painted, with a jumping castle from 11am-5pm.

Sunday, October 19 is time to get groovy with Pop & Dance. From 11am, catch Mark Watson, Adam Thomas, Alex Fietz and Devine, featuring some of Australia’s most talented DJs, musicians, dancers, horn players and vocalists. From 11am- 3pm, kids can have their faces painted, with a jumping castle from 11am-5pm.

Sunday, October 26 focuses on Opera & Classical. From 11am see Rob McMullan, Wes Taylor and Hansen Classical Duo. Male harmony trio The Lion’s Den will take the stage at 3pm with their dynamic and diverse show featuring timeless classics. From 11am- 3pm, kids can have their faces painted, with a jumping castle from 11am-5pm.

Mr Hasser said he is looking forward to welcoming everyone to experience Sanctuary Cove like never before during Sunday Sounds.

“It is a great opportunity for those who have not yet experienced everything Sanctuary Cove has to offer to come along and listen to some great live music,” Mr Hasser said. “We look forward to Sunday Sounds becoming a showcase for local live talent.”
