Sandra Lawrence McCabe wins 1029 Hot Tomato Gold Coast Nursing Award for June 2018

A home dialysis nurse has won 1029 Hot Tomato’s Gold Coast Nursing Award for June.

Sandra Lawrence McCabe wept tears of joy after she learnt she had won the award after being nominated by one of her patients.

“I am so speechless, and I am quite teary too. Thank you so much!” she said.

Sandra has worked as a nurse for more than 30 years and told myGC she loves helping people.

“Being a nurse is just so rewarding. I look after people who are suffering renal kidney disease, and I teach them how to take of their dialysis at home. It is so great seeing a patient making a decision about their health.”

Along with a certificate, Sandra wins $250 and is now a finalist in the Annual Awards where she could be awarded the annual winner’s cash prize of $5,000.
