Sara Huegill has Byron Bay stealing charge dropped

Sara Huegill has had her stealing charge dropped due to mental health reasons.

The 34-year-old wife of Olympian Geoff Huegill appeared in Byron Bay local court today after allegedly stealing a pair of $2000 leather pants from a luxury clothing store in Byron Bay in May.

At the time, her lawyer released a statement saying she “deeply regrets the incident”.

“Sara deeply regrets the ­incident and apologises ­unreservedly,” the statement read.

“Sara has made good progress recently in being treated for issues related to anxiety and depression and acknowledges this is a setback.

“She has asked for privacy and understanding for her family at this time.”

It’s understood the case will now be dealt with under the Mental Health Act.
