School bus driver charged with child grooming on Tweed Coast

A school bus driver on the Tweed Coast has been charged with child grooming following an alleged incident involving a young girl last Thursday.

Officers said that on 26 October, a 14-year-old girl was on a school bus, when she was spoken to by the driver.

Police allege the man made a number of sexually explicit comments to the girl before she got off the bus.


Following ongoing investigations, a 48-year-old man was arrested on Quarry Road at Murwillumbah around 1.20pm yesterday.

He was taken to Murwillumbah Police Station where he was charged with procure child for unlawful sexual activity and behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 13 November.
