Schoolies freed after becoming trapped in Gold Coast elevator

FOURTEEN terrified Schoolies have been rescued after becoming trapped in an elevator at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast overnight.

Emergency crews rushed to a hotel on the Esplanade just after 8.00pm after receiving reports a lift had become stuck.

It took lift technicians and Queensland Fire and Rescue crews around 45 minutes to free the school leavers.

Paramedics said fourteen patients were assessed at the scene, however luckily no one was injured.
