Search continues for ‘distinctive’ group after man stabbed at Woodridge

UPDATE @ August 20: A MAN remains in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in the neck at Woodridge.

Police say the 37-year-old was walking along Ewing Road around 11pm on Saturday with three other people, when they passed a group of three men and two children.

It’s understood a verbal argument broke out, and the man was stabbed in the neck.

He was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police have since set up an investigation centre at Logan Central Police Station involving numerous resources including the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch, Logan Child Protection Unit, Homicide Investigation Unit and Scenes of Crime Unit.

Investigators are wanting to speak to a group of three men aged between approximately 20 and 40-years-of-age and two young children who it is believed can assist with inquiries.

Police say the group was distinctive, with one man in possession of a portable music device playing loud music and another wearing an orange high-vis jacket.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything of interest in the area of Prince Park and surrounding streets on Saturday night is being urged to come forward.

EARLIER @ August 19: A man is fighting for his life following a stabbing attack in Logan, which prompted a full scale search involving the dog squad and police helicopter.

Police say the 37-year-old was walking along Ewing Road in Woodridge at around 11pm on Saturday with three other people, when they passed a group of three men and two children.

A verbal argument broke out, and the man was stabbed once in the neck with what was possibly a knife or a bladed weapon.

The group then ran off and the man’s friends called for help.

He was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Multiple police units, including uniform and plain clothes officers, the dog squad and Polair2 saturated the area searching for the men, however they remain on the run.

A crime scene has been declared at the incident location as Scientific and Scenes of Crimes officers process the scene, and an Incident Centre has been established at Logan Police Station.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any CCTV or dash cam video along Ewing Drive at around 11pm is urged to contact police.
