Second Victorian dies from coronavirus in 24 hours

Victoria has recorded another coronavirus death, its second death in the past 24 hours.

A man in his 90s died from COVID-19 in hospital overnight.

A second man in his 60s died on Monday morning.

It takes Victoria’s death toll to 22 and the national death toll to 106.

The latest deaths come after Victoria recorded 127 new coronavirus cases, it’s single biggest daily increase since the beginning of the whole pandemic.

The state now has 650 active cases, a massive jump of 590 in just four weeks.

The crisis in Victoria has prompted New South Wales to shut its southern border from midnight on Tuesday.
